Cycling

The Společná Cidlina Region belongs among very attractive regions highly sought after by tourists on two wheels. Its flat land interlaced with an extensive network of cycle trails makes it an ideal region for cycle tourism fans. Cycle trails are characterised as European, non-regional, regional and local, or they are a part of the basic backbone network of cycle trails of the Hradec Kralove Region, connecting to the Elbe trail, Žitav cycle trail and cycle trails in surrounding regions. Regional and local trails complement the backbone network creating a fully functional unit.

Every cycle tourism lover can discover what they love most about cycling here, as the trails are divided from the perspective of technical difficulty (ability to cycle according to the type of road and its condition), physical difficulty (combination of the technical aspect, superelevation and terrain gradient) and demands on the type of bicycle for the following categories:

  • physical difficulty – low, medium, high
  • technical difficulty – low, medium, high
  • suitable type of bicycle – road, trekking, cross, MTB.

The entire network of cycle trails allows its users to choose various lengths and various levels of difficulty for cycling trips.

Loreta municipal museum. Loreta municipal museum

In place of the originally planned Piarist monastery arose Loreta, a Baroque pilgrimage site. In 1740 a sacred foundation was established at Loreta for the purpose of supporting the Capuchin monk whose responsibility it was to hold a daily requiem mass for the deceased members of the Kinský family. In 1786 the pilgrimage site was abolished and in 1805 the chapel was torn down so it wouldn’t interfere with the practical use of the building: Loreta also served as a hospital, a poorhouse, and later also as a dwelling unit. The building has been a museum since 2001.
