Hiking
The region offers visitors an abundance of interesting and unique destinations for trekking.
Nature lovers should definitely not miss out on a visit to the Bludy Nature Reserve, or the natural monument Pamětník. It is also possible to recommend taking a walk along the local nature trail Les Chlum and the surroundings, which leads to the corners of the Chlum forest, to the former sandpit with a small pond and primarily familiarises visitors with the local flora and history of this area.
Visitors with an interest in history must not forget to visit the chateau Karlova Koruna, which is the focal point of the city Chlumec nad Cidlinou and also the former Loreta Monastery, which now houses the City Museum. The square of Nový Bydžov was declared an urban heritage zone and its gem is the Neo-Gothic city hall and Baroque group of statues on the Marian Plague Column. The third oldest Jewish cemetery in the Czech Republic is found in the southern part of the city. Among other important monuments of the region are e.g. the chateau in Sloupno and the wooden church in Loučná Hora.

Loreta municipal museum In place of the originally planned Piarist monastery arose Loreta, a Baroque pilgrimage site. In 1740 a sacred foundation was established at Loreta for the purpose of supporting the Capuchin monk whose responsibility it was to hold a daily requiem mass for the deceased members of the Kinský family. In 1786 the pilgrimage site was abolished and in 1805 the chapel was torn down so it wouldn’t interfere with the practical use of the building: Loreta also served as a hospital, a poorhouse, and later also as a dwelling unit.
